An introduction to the history of ISAPS Education Council.
The ISAPS fulfilled its educational mission by subsequently giving birth to the most important means of dissemination of knowledge to its members and residents.
These included teaching courses, lectures given by the “Visiting Professors,” technical publications and the establishment of a Video-Library. Another very important mean was the development of its own Journal “Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.”
Proposed by Sanford Glanz in 1981, some of these programs were joined under the auspices of an “Education Council” first chaired by Rodolphe Meyer, followed from 1985 to 1987 by Jose Guerrerosantos and Ulrich Hinderer as Co-Chairmen; from 1987 to 1992, by Ulrich T. Hinderer and Fernando Ortiz-Monasterio and, from 1992 to 1993, by William Lindsay and Carson Lewis.
Guidelines were established by Paule Regnault and by Ulrich Hinderer (1986 and 1989) to better define the types of Postgraduate Courses, the relationship EF-ISAPS and of the Chairmen with the Executive Foundation(83,91) as well as concerning joined courses held in conjunction with the Sections of the IPRS(92,94,95). The EF Treasury was taken over by the Assistant Treasurer of the ISAPS, Trudy Vogt, who worked hard and very efficiently.
