At the Exco September 8, 1974 in Barcelona(99) it was approved to appoint Travelling Professors to serve during the next terms. At the EXCO August 24, 1975, in Paris(51), the first Travelling Professorships were given for a period of 2 years each to both John C. Mustarde and Salvador Castañares.
On March 21, 1992, in Singapore(81), Ulrich Hinderer was asked to write the Guidelines for the Visiting Professors with the help of Mario Gonzalez-Ulloa. The mission of the Travelling or Visiting Professors of ISAPS was conceived to act as Ambassadors of the Society giving lectures, sometimes all day long in the most distant and developing countries, and also to inform the Society of the state of development of Aesthetic Surgery in these countries and to transmit their needs as to how the Society could support Aesthetic Surgery and the training program in the respective countries.
After John C. Mustarde and Salvador Castañares, who served between 1975 and 1979, the following Visiting Professors of ISAPS were: Mario Gonzalez-Ulloa, from 1980 to 81; Ulrich T. Hinderer, from 1981 to 83; Jose Guerrerosantos, from 1983 to 85; Seiichi Ohmori, from 1985 to 87; Jaime Planas and Paule Regnault, from 1987 to 1989; and Ricardo Baroudi and Rodolphe Meyer, from 1989 to 1992. Without any doubt, the outstanding activities of the Travelling Professors in all continents have greatly contributed to a better appreciation of the value of the ISAPS and the educational mission of the Society(84,87,88).
