Useful information for patients on Non-Surgical Body Contouring procedures - providing minor fat reduction and body contouring without surgery.
There are a variety of options available for non-surgical body contouring and fat reduction which use a range of technologies. All are designed to destroy fat cells that lie just beneath the skin (subcutaneous fat) without harming the surface of the skin. Examples include CoolSculpting® which freezes the fat through cryolipolisis; ZERONA® which uses low-level laser energy; and UltraShape® and Liposonix® which use ultrasound energy.* Multiple treatments may be required with certain technologies.
These non-surgical treatments are designed for people who have reached a healthy body weight. Liposuction is better suited for precise body contouring and removing larger volumes of fat.

Ensure you consider all aspects of a procedure. You can speak to your surgeon about these areas of the surgery in more detail during a consultation.
The length of treatment depends on the technology and the size and number of areas being treated.
No anesthesia is needed.
These treatments are performed as outpatient procedures.
Some patients experience temporary redness, minor bruising, numbness, tingling or discomfort. With certain technologies numbness may persist for several weeks. Scarring may occur if the treatment is used to remove more than the superficial surface layer of fat. Uneven results may occur.
No downtime is required.
Because the body naturally eliminates the treated fat cells, results typically appear gradually over two or more weeks. Once achieved, final results are permanent and can be maintained with sensible eating and consistent exercise.
